JROTC Drill Team is the movement component of the JROTC programs. Knightdale High School “Drill” team is a team of mentally tough Cadets who train to compete regionally in Drill competitions in a series of ordered events.


The specific events may differ from competition to competition, but typically consist of:
 

Unarmed Squad – Unarmed Squad consists of a team of 7 highly developed cadets who specifically train and prepare for any and all unarmed squad competitions. This squad drill segment is unarmed, which means that there are no rifles involved in this routine. 
Unarmed Platoon – Unarmed Platoon consists of a team of 12 highly trained cadets who specifically train, practice, and prepare for any and all unarmed platoon competitions. This squad drill segment is unarmed, which means that there are no rifles involved in this routine. 
Armed Squad – Armed Squad consist of a team of 7 highly trained cadets who spspecifically practice and prepare for any and all armed squad competiitons. This squad drill segment is armed, which means that there are rifles involved in this routine. 
Armed Platoon – Armed Platoon consists of a team of 12 highly developed stong cadets who specifially train and prepare for any and all armed platoon competiitons. This squad drill segment is armed, which means that there are rifles involved in this routine. 
Knockout – Knockout is a highly competitive game that is played at most drill competitions. The sole purpose of this exercise and game is to see who is the more disciplined cadet at that meet. The exercise is played by most cadets and there can only be one winner.
